The 7th Panhellenic Congress on the Development of Greek Agriculture,
organized by GAIA EPICHEREIN, leading force in the modernization of
Greece’s primary sector, will take place on Friday 6 November 2020 –
for the first time online – under the theme « The CAP in the Green Deal era: The
opportunity of the green & digital transition for the sustainable development of
Greek agriculture».
This year’s Congress puts under the spotlight the big challenge and opportunity to make
up for the lost ground as well as to bring forward the comparative advantages of Greek
agriculture through the promotion of the green and digital transition,
in the context of both the strategic plan of the CAP and the
national Recovery and Resilience plan.
Among the keynote speakers of the 7th Panhellenic Congress are the Minister of
Rural Development & Food Mr. Mavroudis Voridis, the Deputy Minister
of Digital Governance Mr. Georgios Georgantas and the President of the
largest cooperative bank of Spain Cajamar Caja Rural Mr. Εduardo Baamonde Noche.
Congress speakers also include World Bank’s Senior Agricultural Economist Mrs.
Svetlana Edmeades, the Director for “Strategy, Simplification and
Policy Analysis” in the DG for Agriculture and Rural development of the European
Commission Mr. Tassos Haniotis and many distinguished experts as well as
institutional, financial and business stakeholders from the Greek and EU agri-food
sector. Video-messages to Congress participants will be addressed by Mrs. Christiane
Lambert, President of the Committee of Professional Agricultural
Organisations (COPA) and Mr. Ramon Armengol, President of the General
Committee for Agricultural Cooperation in the European Union (COGECA).
The working languages of the Congress will be Greek, English, Italian
and Spanish.
